Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt ready to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last put my grief into words," posted Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he doesn't recollect "one day without joy".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A court order placed a embargo on the files to restrict the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a official listing noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
After the deaths, public figures offered divergent comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing provocative claims that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the detractors recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they revealed a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an aide ought to have stepped in when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
